Why I Choose Holistic Solutions
About 20 years ago, I became interested in a holistic approach to healthcare… when I was diagnosed with osteo-arthritis and told by my medical doctor that there was nothing that could be done for me-- that I would be in a wheelchair by the time I was 55. Well, I’ll be 60 years old this year and am still going strong, walking my dogs every day and very active.
When I first received this diagnosis, I became very sad and depressed. Then I started researching every place that I could think of, asking everyone I came in contact with about other options. Someone mentioned Acupuncture and Massage. So, I started getting massages and acupuncture treatments which helped a lot.
I also tried Reflexology, Meditation and other holistic approaches to healthcare. I soon realized that a mind, body and spirit approach to healthcare got to the root of the problem. Western medicine treats the symptoms. It uses the “Take two aspirin and call me in the morning” approach. Many doctors have told me to just take more medicine, to try another medication.
After I had some good results with holistic medicine, I decided to share this newfound information with others. I was living in Maryland at the time. One of the things I found out by going to different practitioners was that:
(1) Most practitioners don’t know how to market their business, making it a challenge for people like me and you to find them and try their services; and
(2) Most people don’t know what a holistic approach to health is all about. There are holistic solutions for everyone.
After three years of producing the Carroll County Holistic Networking Group and Expos, I moved to California. Here, I wanted to continue my work getting out the word of holistic health and wellness solutions. When I found out about The Holistic Chamber of Commerce, I appreciated their attention to professionalism and excellence by reference-checking their members.
